The Cubs did not spend $300,000,000 this offseason …

I am getting very sick of the media talking about how the Cubs have spent $300,000,000 this offseason. By saying this, they are implying that the Cubs payroll is in the $300,000,00 range and acting as if though we have a payroll bigger than the Yankees.  What the Cubs did do is guarantee over $300,000,000 over an 8-year span.  So, next time you hear someone talking trash about how the Cubs “spent $300,000,000 this offseason”, make sure you set the record straight!

  1. I think the reason we didn’t sign Aramis earlier in the year was because we wanted to see if we could get A-Rod. Once we knew the Yankees weren’t going to trade him, we decided to re-sign Aramis, just my opinion though.

  2. i agree completely. the whole 300 million thing is very misleading.
btw…what is our 2007 payroll at right now?
