Good Prior News!

Mark Prior is expected to start the 5th game of Spring Training … This is coming from ESPNews. This is good stuff! Now, let’s just hope he can pitch well and stay healthy all year.

  1. I really think Prior will have a good year. I think it will help not having to answer questions about his arm every day. It seems like expectations for him are low from people outside Cubs Nation. I’ll make a prediction of 15-8 3.76 ERA 180Ks I think he’ll be healthy but a little rusty.

  2. that really is great news.
to respond to sweetdrj, having no expectations for prior seems to be the prudent thing. that way, if he does actually pitch well it’s a bonus.
    …cautiously optimistic :)

  3. I think the odds of Prior staying healthy are far greater than the same happening for Wood.

Truthfully, I tend to think Prior’s injuries have come from an adjustment of no longer using performance enhancers. I think the young stud used them when they were legal and once they became a point of emphasis, Prior quit using. This has caused his injury spiral over the past few seasons. Just a theory.

This may be the season he finally gets over all of it. I am worried about his velocity, but he has good enough stuff that he should be competent without the same fastball he used to have.
