Mark DeRosa
When Mark DeRosa signed with the Cubs, I, along with many other Cubs fans, were puzzled as to why we need another 2B. Then I realized that Mark DeRosa would be a good fit on this team … especially if last year was a fluke for young 2B Ryan Theriot. Mark DeRosa signed a 3-year deal worth 13 million dollars to play 2B… but he is much more versatile than that. Last year DeRosa played 1 game at 1B, 26 games at 2B, 40 games at 3B, 7 games at SS, 5 games in LF and 60 games in RF. I think it would be best if DeRosa played 2B against righties and then move to RF for when the team plays lefties because Jacque Jones hits lefties as much as he hits the cut-off man… and we all know that is a rare sight to see. While DeRosa is playing RF, that would be the perfect opportunity to put Theriot at 2B to test his skills.
