Daryle Ward

During the offseason, the Cubs really solidified their bench. An example of that is the signing of left handed hitter Daryle Ward. Ward will be great coming off the bench late in the game, because he completely dominates right handed pitching. The signing of Ward this offseason is similiar to the John Mabry signing of last year. (Let’s just hope that our star 1B does not get injured, thus forcing a bench player to fill in the role of an everyday starter again.) The signing of Daryle Ward may seem like a small signing now, but it adds more left handed pop and depth to a pretty stacked bench.
