Cliff Floyd
On January 24th, the Cubs finally completed a one year deal with a mutual option for 2008 for LF Cliff Floyd. Floyd will most likely platoon with Matt Murton in LF, which will also help add depth to the bench. Not only will it add depth, but it also gives us another lefty in the lineup ( which the Cubs are in desperate need of). I think the best thing that is going to come out of this deal is his attitude in the club house. He is known for having a great attitude and you can tell by his actions on and off the field. Floyd is a player who has a desire to win. He said, “I think the main thing is doing what the team needs me to do. I mean that sincerely. If you want to win, you do what the team needs you to do to win. If you talk about platooning and all this stuff, I don’t think it becomes an issue. If I go out and play like I know I can play, you won’t hear that word [platoon] the rest of the season.”
