Alfonso Soriano
In baseball, the best way to draw fans is winning. This offseason the Cubs organization wanted to show their fans that they were not messing around when they had said they wanted to win THIS year. The Cubs made the biggest move in the offseason fast and early as they signed Alfonso Soriano to an 8-year, 136 million dollar contract, a week after re-signing 3B Slugger Aramis Ramirez to a 5-year, 75 million dollar contract. Alfonso Soriano hit 46 homeruns and 41 doubles … in a pitchers ballpark; Just think what he will be able to accomplish in Wrigley Field … a hitters ballpark. Some have questioned the deal, mostly because of the longevity of the deal; Soriano will be 38 years old when the deal is finished, and alot of people are wondering if he can be as productive or if he will even be good at such an age. We in Cubbie Nation sure hope so.
