Cubs Win an Ugly One
Considering that this game does not matter it was not a good game for the Cubs. They had four errors as a team (2 by Patterson, 1 by Soriano and another by Ramirez). Even with the four errors the Cubs pitching staff only gave up 2 runs (1 earned). Marquis, Dempster and Guzman all pitched very well giving up no earned runs. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come, especially for Dempster, as he is one of the main keys for 2007.
The Cubs hitting was a different story. They had 11 hits, including a walk-off homer by Mike Hoffpauir, but had 16 men left on Base. This is something that Lou P. has to address and was a big part of the downfall of last year, known as the ‘06 Chicago Cubs.
