Cubs Offense Flexes Their Muscles
It was a fun day at the ball park today as the Cubs beat the Oakland Athletics 9-8. The Cubs offense got started early with a lead-off homerun from Alfonso Soriano, his first of the spring; He also had a stolen base later in the game. Barrett and Murton each had two hit games as Lee, Jones and Ramirez cashed in on 3 hit games. It is nice to see Ramirez putting the bat on the ball. The lineup today is my dream lineup. Soriano, Murton, Lee, Ramirez, Jones, Barrett, DeRosa, Theriot at short and Big Z pitching.
It was fun to watch our hitters start to heat it up, but the pitching still worries me. Zambran0, Eyre, Novoa, Howry and Ohman combined for nine walks. This is something that plagued the Cubs last season. I know it is still early, but the Cubs NEED to keep the ball in the strike zone if they want to win … especially with a questionable outfield defense.
