Cubs Cut Down on Walks; Extend Win Streak To Four

It’s another win for the Cubs today. After getting off to a bad start, the Cubs are starting to play well.  Felix Pie is really showing he wants to be part of this big league team as he is starting to hit the ball alot and his defense is outstanding. Cesar Izturis had 2 hits and Buck Coats had 3, while Daryle Ward hit his first homerun of the Spring.

On the pitching side, Wade Miller did alright as he is fighting with Prior for the 5th spot in the rotation.  He gave up  6 hits and 2 walks in 3 IP, but only gave up one run. Kerry Wood gave up 4 runs which all occured on one swing by Terrmel Sledge; although he gave up 4 runs, he said his stuff felt better than his first time around. This gives me good confidence that Wood will do very good this year and have the ability to stay healthy for most of the year. Rocky Cherry and Pignatiello each threw an inning and kept their ERA for the spring at zero, while Cherry converted his second save.
