Ward=Hero of the Day
Posted on August 18th, 2007 by Joe
Well, today Daryle Ward launched his first homerun (which happened to be a grand slam!) as a Cub into the Wrigley field bleachers to put the Cubs up 5-0. This loosened up the Cubs dugout quite a bit as everyone was jumping up and down and from that point on the pressure was off. Marshall went 5 innings, giving up 2 solo shots and the bullpen pitched 4 innings and gave up one run, given up by Howry after he gave up a homerun to Albert Pujols. So the grand slam was all the Cubs would need as they won the game 5-3 on a rainy day. Daryle Ward was the hero of the day today … Cedeno tomorrow?
