Prior Shows Little Improvement in Second Outing.
Today, Mark Prior threw his second ST game. His line was very bad again as he gave up 4 hits, 4 ER and 3 BB’s in 2 IP. The good thing about his start today is that he got through 2 innings and that his velocity is up in the high 80’s, unlike before when it was in the low 80’s. I think that Prior will start the season in AAA, even though it may seem like a slap in the face to him. This team has to do what it needs to do to win, and if that means having Miller or Guzman start out as our number 3 pitcher, instead of Prior, than that is what we will have to do. Right now, the rotation looks like Zambrano, Lilly, Miller/Guzman/Prior/Cotts, Hill, Marquis. Miller and Guzman look very good right now, and we could trade Miller because he wants a rotation spot and nothing else. I would be very happy with a Zambrano, Lilly, Guzman, Hill, and Marquis, until/if Prior is ready to hit his spots.
